Activity 2: E-Portfolio

Activity 2: EPortfolio

Use your class Google account to create a Blogger account.

Participants will use Blogger as an electronic portfolio for all activities for the class.

Graham Attwell describes e-Portfolios–the DNA of the Personal Learning Environment

Participants will create daily descriptive and reflective entries that document and display the concepts, principles,
ideas, applications and processes learned in each day's class.

Each day's entry will be assessed a proportionate share of the overall grade available for the portfolio.

Daily entries will be expected to conform to a specified standard as assessed by a rubric (basic,
advanced, professional).  Entries should be the equivalent of one page of typed text, or 250 words.

Some things you can consider in your daily entry:
  • How prepared were you for this class?
  • What learning  experiences did you have in  class?
  • What areas are you most confident in?
  • What specific skills or concepts are you  unsure of?
  • If you  struggled, what were the main sticking points?
  • Did anything surprise you about your learning process in this class?
  • Did you notice any improvements in any areas?
  • What is your plan to resolve problems, change and or improve?

Each multimedia project developed in class will be displayed on the e-portfolio (some projects will be
assessed by separate specific rubric.)

The overall professional design, organization and appearance of the web page will be considered in
grading.

Constructivism and constructionism are related educational theories and each is further specialized
by considering the social aspects of learning.

Social constructionism as articulated by Seymor Paypert declares that learning occurs best when
people construct artifacts of their learning with the intention of sharing those artifacts with others.
These artifacts can be written notes, diagrams charts or other physical components. Of course, with
the availability of digital resources those artifacts become much more powerful. If a picture paints a
thousand words, a 5 minute YouTube video paints ten thousand words.
